LIQUID GOLD
-
Style: Golden Ale
ABV: 4.0%Core beer available all year
The name isn't a boast — it's a description. Liquid Gold is our multi award-winning golden ale, pouring a bright, burnished gold with a soft white head and an aroma that immediately breaks the rules of the style. Late in fermentation we dry hop generously with a blend of Mosaic, Sentinel and Comet, letting the hops steep as the beer conditions — a technique that coaxes out layers of fruit and adds a soft, pillowy depth to the mouthfeel you don't expect from a golden ale. Mosaic leads with ripe mango, passionfruit and that unmistakable pop of blueberry, Comet brings zesty grapefruit and a touch of wild citrus, and Sentinel rounds it out with bright, juicy top notes that tie the whole thing together.
Underneath the fruit, this is a beer made the traditional way, with no shortcuts and no compromises. The finest pale malts are given room to shine, delivering a smooth, gently biscuity body with real texture — silky up front, crisp and refreshing at the finish, every sip in balance. Nothing here is done to save money — it's done to make the best golden ale you'll find in Sussex. At 4%, it's effortlessly drinkable: familiar enough for the traditionalist, fruity enough to surprise them, and good enough to keep winning awards. Once you've had a taste of gold, everything else feels like second place.

DAVE BEST
-
Style: Best Bitter
ABV: 3.8%Core beer available all year
Every pub needs a Dave. Dependable, unflashy, always exactly what you hoped for. This chestnut-brown best bitter is the beer equivalent of your most reliable mate — clean, malty and perfectly balanced, brewed with noble Kentish and Sussex hops that deliver a gentle, earthy bitterness and a soft floral, hedgerow aroma. No gimmicks, no tricks — just a proper English bitter made the way the style deserves.
On the palate it's light-to-medium bodied but quietly complex, with layers of crystal malt sweetness unfolding through the middle — think sweet raisin, ripe hedgerow fruit and warm digestive biscuit, all held together with real elegance. The local hops keep it grounded, drying the finish just enough to bring you straight back for the next mouthful. At 3.8%, Dave is built for the long haul: session after session, pint after pint, old dependable never lets you down. Some beers chase trends. Dave just turns up, every time, and does the business.
MICROBUS
-
Style: Pale Ale
ABV: 4.0%Core beer available all year
Slide the door open, roll the windows down. Microbus is a laid-back session IPA with a free spirit — brewed for those who want that summer feeling all year round, whatever the forecast says. Dry hopped with Simcoe, Mosaic and Sentinel, it pours a hazy sunshine gold and throws out big, breezy waves of citrus and tropical fruit: juicy mandarin and passionfruit up front, ripe mango and berry from the Mosaic, and a mellow pine-and-grapefruit hum from the Simcoe rolling along underneath. It smells like a festival field in July — even in the middle of January.
At 4%, this is the definition of easy riding — soft and refreshing with a light malt chassis, a smooth juicy middle and a crisp, clean finish that just keeps cruising. No rush, no fuss, no destination. It's the beer for beer gardens and campfires, but just as much for the grey Tuesdays when you need a little sunshine on tap — the one that turns any session into a road trip. Grab your friends, chase the feeling, and let Microbus take you there. Peace, love and proper hops.
SUNSEEKER
-
Style: IPA
ABV: 3.4%Core beer available all year
Sunshine in a glass. Sunseeker is a small beer with big intentions — a lively, hop-forward session IPA that delivers a bright hit of citrus and stone fruit from the very first pour. Think fresh-cut grapefruit, juicy peach and a curl of orange peel on the nose, with a soft tropical sweetness that follows through onto the palate. It's the kind of aroma that makes you slow down before you've even taken a sip.
Underneath, a gentle pale malt base keeps everything light on its feet — just enough biscuity softness to carry the fruit without ever weighing it down. The body is delicate but never thin, finishing crisp and dry with a gentle bitterness that fades into more juice. At 3.4%, this is a beer built for long afternoons: beer garden sessions, post-match pints, the one you reach for when you want flavour without the fog. Fresh, sun-soaked and endlessly repeatable — chase the sun, find another round.
WAH WAH
-
Style: Hazy IPA
ABV: 5.0%Core beer available all year
A juicy, session-strength IPA built for repeat pours. Wah Wah is dry hopped generously with Azacca and Mosaic — two hops that do the talking so the beer doesn't have to. Azacca brings bright, ripe mango and papaya with a squeeze of tangerine, while Mosaic layers in blueberry, passionfruit and a whisper of pine resin underneath. The result is an aroma that leaps out of the glass: tropical, floral, and unmistakably fresh.
On the palate it's soft and rounded, with a pale malt base that stays out of the way and lets the fruit shine. Expect waves of stone fruit and citrus zest up front, drying to a clean, gently bitter finish that resets the palate and asks for another sip. At 5%, it's got all the character of a bigger IPA without the heft — balanced, aromatic, and dangerously drinkable.
AMERICAN PALE
-
Style: APA
ABV: 4.8%Core beer available all year
An award-winner that wears its hops on its sleeve. This is a proper American Pale Ale — generously hopped from start to finish, delivering massive grapefruit and citrus character with real depth behind it. A heavyweight dry hop blend of Citra, Chinook, Columbus, Comet and Sentinel piles on the layers: bright grapefruit and zesty lime from the Citra, resinous pine and a hint of spice from Chinook and Columbus, wild citrus from the Comet, and an unexpected, delicate note of elderflower floating over the top. It's bold, aromatic and unmistakably American in attitude — with a bouquet you'll smell before the glass reaches the bar.
For all that hop firepower, the real surprise is how smooth it drinks. A soft, rounded mouthfeel carries the fruit across the palate, with just enough malt backbone to give it texture and weight without ever turning sweet. The finish is where it earns its medals — satisfying, gently resinous and moreish, the kind of pint that leaves you sitting back contented and reaching for it again anyway. Punchy where it counts, polished where it matters.
BLACK PEARL
-
Style: Porter
ABV: 5.2%Some treasures are worth diving for. Black Pearl pours a deep, impenetrable black with a smooth tan head — a rich, full-bodied porter that glides across the palate like velvet. A carefully curated bill of roasted malts does the heavy lifting, layering sticky toffee and bittersweet chocolate with a subtle roasted-nut warmth underneath. It's indulgent without being heavy-handed — every sip unfolds a little more of the treasure.
Classic English hops — Bramling Cross, Pilgrim and Goldings — keep it elegantly balanced, adding a gentle earthy spice and a whisper of dark berry fruit that cuts through the richness and stops the sweetness ever taking over. The finish is long, smooth and softly roasted, fading like the last of the firelight. At 5.2%, it's got real presence: a winter warmer, a fireside companion, the perfect partner for a pie, a pudding or absolutely nothing at all. Dark, smooth and quietly luxurious — once you've found the Black Pearl, you'll keep coming back for it.
SEASONAL RANGE
VANILLA BLACK
-
Style: Porter
ABV: 5.2%The Black Pearl's smoother sibling. Vanilla Black starts life as our velvety flagship porter — deep black pour, layers of espresso, toffee and bittersweet chocolate — then takes a long, slow steep on real vanilla until the two become inseparable. The effect is like cream stirred into dark roast coffee: the edges soften, the roast mellows, and what was already indulgent turns positively decadent. Chocolate brownie on the nose, crème brûlée on the palate, and a finish that lingers like the end of a good dessert.
Don't mistake smooth for sweet, though. The English hops and roasted malts underneath still hold the line, keeping it balanced, rounded and firmly a porter rather than a pudding in a glass — though at 5.2%, it could pass for either. Pour it with something chocolatey, or let it be the dessert itself.
BLACK CHERRY PORTER
-
Style: Porter
ABV: 5.2%Every great dark beer deserves a dark fruit. This one takes our flagship porter — velvet body, deep roast, waves of chocolate and toffee — and drops in the rich, jammy depth of black cherry. The pairing is pure Black Forest gateau: tart-sweet cherry cutting through bittersweet chocolate, each one making the other taste bigger. It's the boldest of the Black Pearl family, with a bright fruit lift that dark beer drinkers don't see coming and fruit beer drinkers won't forget.
Underneath, it's all porter — smooth, roasted and full-bodied, with the cherry riding on top rather than taking over, and a finish that fades from fruit back down to coffee and cocoa. At 5.2%, it's dangerously easy drinking for something this rich. Cherry on top? No — cherry all the way through.
AMARETTO BLACK
-
Style: Porter
ABV: 5.2%Ciao, bella. Amaretto Black dresses our flagship porter for an evening out — the same rich, full-bodied base of coffee, toffee and dark chocolate, now laced with the warm almond sweetness of amaretto. It's an old Italian trick in a very English beer: that marzipan-and-toasted-almond note winding through the roast like a shot of liqueur dropped into an espresso. Think affogato, think amaretti biscuits, think the good end of the drinks cabinet.
The result is a porter with real sophistication — nutty, gently boozy in character, and impossibly smooth, with the roasted malts keeping the sweetness honest and the finish long and warming. At 5.2%, it's the after-dinner pour: the one you order instead of a nightcap, or frankly, as one. La dolce vita, by the pint.
